Jacob.

Today little Jacob had his surgery. He and daddy began the experience by watching Monster Trucks on TV.

They gave Jacob some medication to calm him before they took him from us. It made him just a little bit funny. He hid under his blanket and would peek out the bottom of it if anyone tried to talk to him.
The surgery lasted 30 minutes and after another 30 we got to join him in recovery. His was....upset.

They gave him a shot of morphine to assist with the pain and calm him down.  He slept off and on for the next hour and a half and then suddenly just woke up and was okay. I think he was in a bit of a morphine cloud. Very happy, a little loopy, and slightly swollen from all the saline they pumped into him.

He was a good sport and enjoyed his Popsicle

He was very grateful that lamby helped him through the surgery.

He was also very demanding that I take a picture of his IV.
Here was his hospital bed.
As for now his is a little bit like a roller coaster. He goes from happy to sad instantaneously with a big dose of grumpy intermixed. Here is a picture of the dose of grumpy.

The surgery for the most part was very successful. There is a little bit of doubt that one of the tubes will remain intact because he hadn't healed completely from the previous set. And thanks to the adenoids we now get the very soft diet for the next week.  So cheers to the surgery being complete! Now on to recovery :)

FYI: Both times we have taken Jacob in for surgery the patient that went in right before us had to have a foreign object removed from his nose :) So try to contain yourself from sticking crayons, marbles, or peas in your nostril...unless you want to be a comic relief for the other patients waiting for their turn to have surgery!

BTW Greg passed his dissertation! That deserves a post of his own...I will work on that.
