A Real South Dakota Blizzard.

So...we finally experienced our first blizzard. I know I grew up in Utah and experienced snow there. I just mean that my family experienced their first blizzard. My children can only remember living in Georgia and Sabrina remembers parts of Hawaii. This was their first experience with a true blizzard. It was AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL! and I just love South Dakota.

Here is the front porch after the first wave of the storm taken from the window. Poor Uga. We received I think 6 inches when I took this picture. The total for Aberdeen was recorded at 13.5 inches.
Photo: Today is one of those days I wake up and think how grateful I am that I live in South Dakota! It is beautiful outside! Our porch has disappeared and Uga who guards and protects our home has gone missing!

So in South Dakota you shovel when it snows...and shovel again when it blows! Here are pictures of us clearing the walks on Sunday.

Here are pictures of what the walks looked like on Monday when we woke up. We only got an additional inch of snow Sunday after we cleared the walks. The second picture is the same location Greg was snow blowing above just from a different angle. Awesome isn't it!

Pictures don't do it justice. Can you see the depth of it on the snow blower?

Check out the height of my snow shovel. Isn't it awesome. Nearly up to the way to the handle and the shovel is in the snowbank not at road level.  You can't even see the rock in the front yard!

It is so deep the kids struggle walking in it!I love Clara's purple hat poking out of the snow. She fell while walking!

Katherine even stayed out for a 1/2 hour and enjoyed it!
Here is a picture after the girls made it to the rock. It was quite the task!
My friend Suzanne sent me these pictures of the guys playing with their snow plows at her house.  So much fun.

Greg also got to play in his truck as he and his friends went and cleared some walks. It wa Impressive. He can make it through the snowhills without a hesitation. I just have to say what a blessing this truck is! It makes us self reliant...which is another huge blessing.

Here is the mobile picture I took of the truck. It is a little blurry.

I love snow and South Dakota and our Snow Blower and Greg.

Christmas 2012

Yes, It is February...these are Christmas photos...now that Greg is super busy...and I am super not...I find time to post a little bit more. We had a blessed Christmas. So many fun toys and presents. The kids loved everything about Christmas. We spent all day opening presents...last one was opened after dinner. With no family around we enjoy making it last. Without further ado the pictures.

Believe it or not Katherine was the first one awake on Christmas morning...to bad the flash still messes with her eyes...
The Load! Because we live far away everyone mails their presents. It makes for quite the incredible room of presents.

Greg gave me the coolest present ever. It is a lamp that Greg designed using the Frank Lloyd Wright style. The three other sides have vintage maps of Aberdeen on them. I have more pictures but they are not accessible from my computer right now. I will post them later.

Here are a few (okay a ton) of pictures of the kids opening presents.

It was a very merry Christmas. We had fun day skyping our Granparents and playing together as a family. We have been so blessed!

Bathing Kid #4

Sometimes life gets a little crazy...dinner gets a little messy...dishes need washed...baby needs washed...we take care of it in one big sink load. Works out great for us.

(once again these pictures are over a month old! I really am behind.)

Katherine went through a funny phase where she used her high chair for a walker. Love this girl.

Fixing Fun With Daddy

Our fireplace has a gas leak...just a slow one but it is a bit of a smelly pain. Greg was lucky enough to get to fix it...along with all the many helpers at our house!

Katherine Eating...

We have a nice little piggy when it comes to eating. She eats so much (when she isn't sick...I dislike winter for that reason) and is so very very messy. Here is a video of her chatting last month.  I should really be posting more...yesterday she took 5 shaky steps...that should be on the video.  Maybe that will be the next video. These were taken in December or January
Just for fun here is Katherine's favorite place to sit in the kitchen! Trouble. Trouble.
