We finished our Christmas vacation by bringing in the new year in style. We spent New Years Day at the hotel swimming, watching football and eating KFC in bed...not such a good idea.
Sleeping in a hotel with Kate is hilarious. She slept great until 2:00 am and then I heard a really loud "I want to sleep with Jacob" and she jumped in Jacob's sleeping bag which upset him. Then she got in bed with Sabrina. She sang her songs for about 45 minutes...then I brought her in Greg's and my bed and she sang to us and played on us until about 5:00 am at which time she fell asleep. Good times. Good times.
Following the day at the hotel home we went home for a quick nap and then went to Eureka to visit the Roggenkamp Family. They are quickly becoming our South Dakota Granparents. Even Katherine calls them Grandma and Grandpa. So sweet. It sounds like Bonca. (Don't worry she still knows who her Utah Grandparents are)
We had the most hilarious experience with a hot chocolate cup. After playing on the four wheelers for awhile we came in to warm up. Katherine was given a really cut snowman cup. Later we found a really pretty, glittery princess cup and gave it to a guest of the Roggenkamps. Katherine just couldn't take it. She cried, cried, and cried some more. Finally Sister Roggenkamp and her guest felt so bad they got her the princess cup! So funny.
The highlight was pulling the kids on sleds behind the four wheelers.
Of course we had to go visit the horses before the weather got bad. Yes...we planned a great trip on one of the warmer South Dakota days and what happens? It rains...and then freezes...making it miserable to be or drive anywhere. But as the rain started to fall we went for a walk to visit the horses.
Too bad we had to return to life after this trip...it would be fun to live like this forever!
