The kids playing on some of the old playground equipment. The homestead had 3 rules 1-Let kids touch play and climb. 2-Take pictures everywhere and 3-We forgot because 1 and 2 were so awesome!
A Shanty similar to the one they would have lived in here in South Dakota
Here is a dugout similar to the one they lived in in Minnesota
The hay roof barn.
The water pump actually worked! The kids were so surprised when water started coming out of it!
Here is Ma's House. It was built in 3 different additions.
The kids got to wash a little laundry.
This room was the first part of the home built.
Then the bedrooms were added.
The kids got to make button toys.
Here we are all outside Ma's house. I was giving a crusty. A fly flew into my nose. Gross.
Kate finally found a few true carriages to ride on. She threw a monster fit when we made her leave this section of the tour. Every princess needs a carriage.
The kids getting ready for the wagon ride.
All the kids got turns driving to/from the school house.
At the school house the kids got to dress up and listen to a teacher teach about schools during Laura's life time.
We then got to make corn cob dolls & jump ropes.
We all vote that next time the Grandpa & Grandma's come to visit we will take another trip to De Smet. It was a great day!
