My children had to say goodbye to their besties this year. They moved a few hours away and we have missed them! During our stay in Huron we have made it a point to travel to visit them a few days. It has been well worth the drive. The kids just LOVED ever minute of it. They just cannot be replaced. I loved that anytime I tried to take a picture everyone jumped in! First we visited the corn palace.
It was pretty cool. All the murals are made of different colors of corn and husks. Too bad we came at the wrong season! They were removing all the corn so that when the corn crops come in they could put new murals up. It was still worth seeing.
We took the kids to lunch...but that was a bit funny (or Awkward sorry Chris!) He is a stay at home dad, I am a stay at home mom and both our spouses where working. It wasn't noticeable until we went to McDonald's. There we had 8 children on similar build, color and age sitting at the table with Chris and I at the end. We got a few comments as people asked if they were all ours...(Ellie! I didn't quite get your head!)
Best Friends!
Today we went and visited a Historical Native American Village. It had a archeological dig site that is active one month out of 12. This was a boat that the Native American's used to use to navigate the river.
This was where the grumpy kids sat.
Close up grump.
This was the happy bench. There were a few kids who qualified for both.
The silly grumps.
The dig site for kids :) They each found a paper arrow head that they got to exchange for a (real?) one at the gift shop.
My beautiful Katherine running to catch up with the big kids.
What a wonderful two days we spent with friends! It was awesome!
